Big Plans!
Whew! That week’s vacation/staycation was exactly what I needed. Forgive me for the recent radio silence, but it took me a few days to settle down from re-entry back into real life.
One of the projects I worked on while I had my time off last week was reorganizing my craft space. If you recall, when we moved, my craft area was in the living room:
This was working out just fine, but I knew that if I was going to start quilting, I’d need a little bit more room; not only for fabric storage, but for the ironing board, and just more elbow room in general.
It took a few days, a lot of reorganizing and sorting, but now my craft area looks like this:
We moved some things out of our home office, and installed my craft desk, yarn cabinet, and this new bookcase and I couldn’t be happier. It’s much more roomy and comfortable. I didn’t mind the tight quarters when I was knitting because knitting is portable and can be done from any comfy chair. But since I’m anticipating spending more time sitting at the sewing table, I’m thrilled about the extra space.
I’m also thrilled that I have a door to close to keep the cats out when I’m working with a hot iron or glue and don’t want them to get hurt (or get cat hair on my project).
Another reason that I wanted a private, roomy space is kind of exciting: I’m in the planning stages to open my very own online shop. I know! I’ve been busy behind the scenes for the past few weeks getting things ready, and I have a few more steps to take until I can announce the official “opening” date. I’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks, but I wanted to share the news.
In the meantime – I have more quilts to make, a pair of socks to finish, and I might (maybe, I’m not sure) be entering some items in the Kentucky State Fair this year. There’s a lot on my plate, that’s for sure, and I’m loving every minute of it! I hope you’ll stick around for the fun!

Your new sewing/craft space looks spacious (feeling very jealous) And congratulations on starting up your own etsy shop.
