Big Plans
By Susan | May 18, 2009
After the success of the pillows, I felt like I got my creative momentum back. I wasn’t sure what to work on next, but then this arrived in my mailbox.
I’ve read on a couple of blogs about knitters submitting items to fairs. Now that we’re in Louisville, and the Kentucky State Fair happens in our new hometown, I figured I’d give it a shot. I’m just doing this for kicks, to give myself something to do, without any notions of actually winning anything. I just think it would be fun!
After looking through the categories, I decided to make three projects. Which gave me an excuse to go yarn shopping!
First up, some gorgeous Hazel Knits Artisian sock yarn in “Beach Glass” for a pair of socks. I’m thinking the Embossed Leaves pattern from Interweave Knits – a little lace and interest to keep me motivated.
Oh, I’m excited about this one! It’s the Tulip Cardigan by Dream in Color, in a stunning array of Dream in Color yarns. I picked up this kit from Coldwater Collaborative. They have many, many different kits with various color combos – it was tough to choose! I ended up with “Anita’s Rainbow” and the yarn is fantastic. This will be for the knitted baby sweater category.
I have one more project planned, but still need to find just the right yarn for it. Stay tuned!
