Crochet – Slipper (Sort Of)
How can April be more than halfway over? How is this possible?
This month has been weird, to say the least. I’m going to forego the details and instead focus on the fun and crafty events of the last few weeks.
I got an itch to crochet that I just had to scratch.
Which is how I found myself at home on a Friday night, with a lap full of crochet instruction books, a super cute pattern, some yarn and a hook:
I had seen this picture of the most adorable crocheted baby slippers on Flickr. It turns out, the pattern also comes in an adult size. I had to get it (it was totally worth the $6) and couldn’t wait to cast on.
I’m a crochet novice, so I had a few fits and starts. But by Monday night, I had a slipper:
This is such a cute, clever pattern and easy to follow, even for a crochet novice like me. I’m sure a real crochet-er could whip out a pair of these slippers in no time flat.
The yarn I chose for this slipper just isn’t right, though. It’s superwash wool, and while they’re super soft and machine washable, the gauge is really loose and I know it will only grow in the wash.
I’m going to try again, with some acrylic yarn, and I think that will work much better. But in the meantime – I crocheted something really cool and a little complicated. Go, me!

That slipper is way super-cute. I love it, and it’s a bummer that the yarn isn’t quite right.
Love the slippers! Sam wants a pair, so I will give them a try.
