More Afghan Squares
By Susan | November 30, 2008
I forgot to post yesterday! I’ll make up for it today by posting an actual photo of actual craftiness:
That’s seven more afghan squares for the Pine Ridge afghan project. After I made the third square out of 100% (regular) wool, I had a brainstorm that it might be better to make something that could be washed. All of my acrylics are dull, ugly colors, so I tried to find something with a little more pizzazz. I had a bunch of yarn leftover from the Tulips Cardigan kit I made with Dream in Color yarn – it’s 100% superwash. Perfect!
I used up as much as I could from those scraps. Some of them are brighter than others, but I’m sure that Pam the Wonder Seamer can use them somewhere. Maybe a child’s blanket? (Speaking of Pam the Wonder Seamer, she’s requested we not weave in our ends, which is fine with me!)
I gotta say, this crochet business is SO MUCH FASTER than knitting. For me, anyway – if you’re a superfast knitter and can whip out seven afghan squares without blinking, all the power to you. I think if I had tried to knit all of these in a weekend, I couldn’t have done it.
As soon as I find a large enough envelope, these are going to be sent along for the rest of their journey. I’m hoping I helped make someones winter a little warmer.
