Living Room Pillows
June 8, 2008
While I anxiously await the arrival of some magnetic snaps I ordered on eBay (for future totebags), I figure it’s a good time to show off some of my other sewing.
Behold – pillows!
These are two of the five zippered pillows that are now gracing our living room. I made one at my first sewing class, and then bought enough fabric to make a second. These purple pillows were made of tufted fabric, which I have to say probably wasn’t the best choice for my first “real” sewing project. The fabric was hard to work with, and fought me a lot more than a simple cotton fabric would have.
Enter pillows 3, 4 and 5. I purchased larger pillow forms for these (18″) and some complimentary cotton fabric from The Needle Shop. Since our walls are white and our furniture is light beige, I figured I could go a little more colorful with the pillows. I’m glad I did. They add a little pizzazz that the room needed.
The funny thing about these pillows – I figured that after using the tufted fabric on the first pillows, these three cotton pillows would be a snap. I sat down to make them on a Monday night at around 6:30, figuring it would only take me about an hour to bust them out. THREE hours later, I was finally stuffing the pillows into the zippered covers. Thank goodness I remembered to DVR Gossip Girl, or I would have been really upset.
Not only do we have nice pillows in the room, with them I was able to cross #58 off of the 101 in 1001 list. Only 97 more items to go.
Yikes.
