Babette v2.0 Progress
I’ve made some progress on the latest Babette. I’m quite tickled with it, actually:
The colors (particularly the darker taupe color) are a little muddy in this picture, but you can see the general idea.
My pace is a bit slower than the previous blanket, due mostly to two factors:
1. Ruby has become a permanent fixture on my lap, and has determined that the yarn ends are for eating. This does hinder progress, and a few nights I just had to give up entirely.
2. The arrival of this game in the apartment. I’m obsessed, and it has definitely cut into my crochet time. I’m only a little bit ashamed, because it’s really fun.
I have learned something new with this version of the blanket that I think will save some time in the long run. I’ve learned how to hide yarn ends as I crochet along, which will be a huge time saver. I’ll only need to darn in 1 or 2 ends from each square – sweet!
It also helps that I have stripe colors for panels 1-8 completely mapped out. I am making small tweaks as I go along, since the colors on Excel aren’t really accurate (I’m cutting a little pink, adding a little more stone, that sort of thing) so I don’t feel as pressured each time I pick up the project to balance the colors. For me, that’s the hard part. It’s a lot easier to just do the actual crocheting part!
I’m trying not to be distracted by a knit blanket that’s somewhat similar. That’s going to have to wait. Really. It will.

1) I love, love, LOVE the new blanket! Very pretty.
2) That game is like crack. I played it for about 3 hours the other weekend and didn’t even notice. It’s a good thing the DS lives in The Boy’s backpack (where I have to go look for it) and that he’s equally hooked on the game (meaning I’d have to fight him for it) or else I’d never get anything else done
Wow. I *love* the new version of Babette! It looks much more pulled together than the original (which looked good, too, but you know what I mean…)
My crafting time has been seriously impacted by my DS. Specifically, Chocobo Tales and PuzzleQuest. I can play for hours. Pretty embarassing, especially since CT is aimed at a player who isn’t 30.
