In Which I Pose a Question
Let’s say you have a little time on your hands, and have internet access at your fingertips.
Where are your favorite places online to gaze upon yarn and fibery goodness? Which online shops to do you have in your bookmarks? Is there anywhere you love to go to check out the great deals, or to drool over high-end silks and cashmeres?
I seem to be hitting the same large vendor sites over and over, and I’m sure there’s a bunch of places I’m missing. Anyone willing to enlighten me? I promise not to buy out the last hank of your favorite yarn out from under you!

I love http://www.jimmybeanswool.com, super fast shipping, nice patern & yarn selection. Also adore Sarah’s yarns http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=106560. I look forward to seeing other people’s suggestions.
oh, the links are funky…

I use it for cloth diapers and longies/soakers, but have you seen hyenacart.com? They have lovely hand dyed yarn at some stores. It is kinda confusing – people stock things at certain times and you have to jump on it at the exact right time if you really want something b/c it could be sold out from under you, but the stuff is often really gorgeous. I’ll see if I can find some recommendations on specific stores for you.
I heartily recommend Pick Up Sticks (they’re in Canada) (http://www.pickupsticks.ca). I’ve bought Dream in Color Smooshy from them a couple of times and their customer service is wonderful and the shipping isn’t substantially different from high-end US vendors. I don’t know if this is was a one-time deal, but the first time I ordered from them was late on a Saturday night, and they’d e-mailed me back personally and shipped it out by Sunday.
I also like Sunnyside Ellen on Etsy. Very nice yarn. (Also in Canada, I think.)
