    All Over the Place

    By Susan | October 12, 2007

First of all, progress continues slowly on the Duet socks:

    Duet in Progress

The yellow stripe is the waste yarn marking the location of the afterthought heel.  I really should be done with this sock by now.  However, lately Ruby has been in a playing mood, and I can’t knit more than a few stitches without finding her in my lap, trying to abscond with my working yarn.

Also, my mind is wandering, thinking about other projects (I’m insatiable, I admit).  First, there’s Forecast from Knitty that I can’t get out of my brain.  Thanks to Ravelry, I’ve seen numerous Forecasts without bobbles and with modified sleeves, and I love this sweater now – I never could get past the bobbles in the past.  I’m dying to cast on.

I also stumbled upon all of the photos of finished Lady Eleanor stoles from Interweave’s Scarf Style book.  Since Ravelry still isn’t public, I can’t direct you to there, but here’s a link to a Google image search - aren’t they gorgeous?

I remembered that I had ordered a copy of Scarf Style from Interweave’s Hurt Book sale this summer (their sale of books that are too banged up to sell in bookstores). I pulled it out to see if maybe entralac isn’t as scary as I thought it was.

    It really isn’t:

    Teaching Myself Entralac

So now Lady Eleanor is on my mind as well.  I really want to do it justice with Noro Silk Garden, but yowza, that stuff ain’t cheap, and I’ll need a lot of it.  I may have to make do with a scarf instead of a stole for the time being.

While I was flipping through Scarf Style, I thought I’d look up the pattern for Ene’s Scarf by Nancy Bush.  I couldn’t find it when I flipped through.

“Hmmm,” I thought, “I could have sworn it was in Scarf Style.”  A quick flip to the table of contents showed that yes, it was supposed to be in the book.

Then I looked closely as I flipped through and discovered that about 40 pages are missing from the middle of the book!

    Whoops!

The page on the left is page 17.  The page on the right is page… 50-something.

Wow.  Luckily the scarves I really bought the book for – including Backyard Leaves, Vintage Velvet, Lady Eleanor – are still intact, so I’m not too disappointed.  But I’ll keep this in mind for next year’s hurt book sale - when Interweave Press calls something “hurt,” they mean it!

      I love the new sock!

Also, I have a copy of Scarf Style that you’re welcome to borrow if you want.

That is a lot of missing pages! Good to know for future book buying. Btw, bummer your cat got into the fetchings; I think I would be sick if that happened to me (I am a slow knitter).
