Christmas Stockings

Christmas Stockings

Stockings: Pattern from Bernat’s Free Patterns – Knit Christmas Stockings. I used Cascade 220 in Red, White and Green (100% Wool) on #9 DPNs.

A couple of months ago, I thought, “Wow, wouldn’t it be cool if I could make Christmas stockings for Mr. Martini and I to hang on the fireplace?” At that point, I was still a novice knitter, so when I found a couple of patterns they seemed very difficult.

But time passed. I knit more. I even made some fuzzy feet. The Fuzzy Feet pattern is essentially a sock pattern on a large scale. So I did some digging, and found a stocking pattern that was fairly simple, and thought I’d give it a try. Something clicked, it all made sense, and I have a pair of very cute handmade Christmas stockings.

The pattern calls for #8 DPNs, but I made them on #9s because I wanted them to be a little bigger and stretchier. That way, Mr. Martini can fit more presents inside of them. Heh.

You know I had to try them on, right?

Stockings - On
I promise, my legs really aren’t tree trunks. Yowza.
Looking at this picture, all I can say is that I totally would have worn these to junior high with my pegged jeans and black jazz shoes and felt like the coolest kid around.I was a big geek.Oh, who am I kidding. I still am.

Those stockings (I almost put “stalkings,” for whatever reason) are awesome.

I love making christmas stockings with
and without dp–how I feel today–
they are one of those projects that can
be thoughtless and each different–mistake oh well–a new patterns is born.
    Thanks for sharing your creations.
