My First Finished Objects – Pink Hat & Scarf
By Susan | September 20, 2005
Hat: Made using Crazy Aunt Purl’s Easy Roll Brim Hat Recipe with “Excellent” yarn by Schoeller & Stahl (Wool/Acrylic/Alpaca) with #11 circular & double-pointed needles.
Scarf: Same yarn, simple garter stitch on #13 straight needles.
Completed: Early September 2005
I love the way Aunt Purl writes a pattern – rather than listing a bunch of scary abbreviations, she lists each step in complete sentences and walks you through each and every turn. I don’t think I would have attempted this hat otherwise – it was my first circular knitting, and my first time with double-pointed needles.
OK, actually – it was my second attempt. I finished a different hat, but made it too small, and frogged it. Same with a scarf. So these, while not my first items, are my first completed items.
What’s exciting is that Mr. Martini’s niece had a birthday coming up, so we shipped the scarf off to her as part of a present. I’m excited to think that someone out there is wearing something I created. Yay!
